Virginia Symphony: Beethoven's Violin Concerto
The Virginia Symphony Orchestra, with a complement of 79 professional musicians under the direction of Grammy-nominated music director Joann Falletta, celebrates the spirit of romanticism in its 2008-2009 season. The exquisite acoustics of the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts accentuates the artistry of the orchestra as it weaves the expressive threads of romanticism through its repertoire, from the first stirrings of the emotion by Beethoven and Schubert in Vienna, to the Central European sentiment of Chopin to the fiery passion of the Russian Masters.
