Second Annual Funniest Celebrity Contest

Celebrity contestants will perform short sets of stand-up comedy, judged by a panel of peers, who will crown this year’s Funniest Celebrity in the Bay Area. Contestants include San Francisco Giants stadium announcer and KISS-FM on-air personality Renel Brooks-Moon; iconic entertainment critic Jan Wahl of KRON 4 TV and KCBS Radio; former San Francisco Board of Supervisors president Angela Alioto; Fashion Show Producer, Charleston Pierce; Mike Sugarman of CBS 5 News; Emmy Award-winning TV personality Liam Mayclem of Eye on the Bay; and The San Francisco Bay Guardian’s Riley Manlapaz; and Jamie Williams, former 49er Super Bowl champion, initial writer of the film, “Any Given Sunday” and current Athletic Director of the Academy of Art University will kick the show off with the first joke of the night.
Host of KQED’s award-winning Forum (and last year’s runner-up) Michael Krasny will Emcee. Last year’s winner Rachel Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle will also make an appearance to hand over her crown. Professional comedy team The Israeli-Palestinian Comedy Tour will serve as this year’s Headliners.
An all-star panel of judges will name the new champion, including Don Sanchez of ABC 7 News; Phil Bronstein and Leah Garchik of the San Francisco Chronicle; San Francisco Board of Supervisors member John Avalos; and legendary Bay Area comedian Mark Pitta.
This event is a spin-off of the Funniest Celebrity in Washington D.C., Contest, which has been featured in Time Magazine and on CNN and C-SPAN. Catering for this event has been generously donated by The Cliff House.
