The Battle Studies World Tour is the celebration of John Mayer’s much-anticipated return to the studio following a three-year hiatus. Mayer recently told Rolling Stone magazine, "The album is the next step in the story of who I am.”
Bio:
John Mayer (born October 16, 1977 in Bridgeport, CT) is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, keyboardist, and mandolin player. At the age of 19 he attended Berkelee School of Music for two semesters before cutting his studies short and moving to Atlanta, GA.

He gained local notoriety for his tireless performance and went on to record his first EP "Inside Wants Out" in 1999. He gained success from touring in support of the EP and in 2000 signed with Aware Records. Through Aware, Mayer released an internet-only album titled "Room For Squares." It was during this time that Aware signed a deal with Columbia Records. Columbia decided to remix and re-release "Room For Squares" as a full album in the fall of 2001. The album reached number nine on the US Billboard Hot 200 and is currently certified 4-times platinum. The CD featured "Your Body is a Wonderland" which was nominated for a 2003 Grammy® Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.

Mayer's second studio album, "Heavier Things," was released in 2003 - the same year he released a live CD/DVD concert called "Any Given Thursday." "Heavier Things" topped the US Billboard Hot 200 chart. It would eventually be certified double platinum. The album garnered Mayer two more Grammy® Award nominations: Song of the Year for "Daughters" and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Daughters."

Mayer continued to tour extensively in support of "Heavier Things." In 2005 he formed the John Mayer Trio and released a live album "Try!" Mayer then focused his efforts on a new album, which he released in September of 2006 called "Continuum." The album was met with critical acclaim and saw a maturation of Mayer's guitar work. It has since been certified double platinum. It also brought him four 2007 Grammy® Award nominations: Best Pop Vocal Album for "Continuum" (winner), Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Waiting on the World to Change" (winner), Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for "Route 66," and Album of the Year for "Continuum." Mayer would also receive a 2008 Grammy® Award nomination in the category "Best Male Pop Vocal for the single "Belief."

At the end of 2007 John recorded a live album, which was also distributed as a DVD called "Where the Light is: Live in Los Angeles." It peaked at number five on the US Billboard 200 and has been certified gold.

In 2009 Mayer was nominated for five more Grammy® Awards: Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for "Gravity" from "Where The Light Is" (winner), Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Say" (From the film The Bucket List)(winner), Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals for "Lesson Learned" from 'As I Am,' Best Long Form Music Video for "Where the Light Is" and Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media for "Say" (From the film The Bucket List).

Mayer continues to stamp his mark in the music scene through tours and recording and is currently scheduled to release his fourth studio album, "Battle Studies" in November of 2009 for which he will conduct a major, international tour.
