Polar Paradise Weekend
Polar Bear Playground with 30 TONS of REAL SNOW! - Noon to 4 p.m. =
Although South Florida is often thought of as a tropical paradise,
during this event kids will have a chance to play in snow under the
Florida sun. The Museum’s backyard will be filled with 30 tons of real
snow! Get here early for the best snow conditions and don’t forget your
mittens!
Colder than Cold - 1 p.m. & 3 p.m. - After playing in thirty tons
of snow in the Museum’s backyard, join Museum staff as we explore the
wold of super-cold science. We will be conducting experiments with dry
ice and liquid nitrogen, which reaches temperatures of 321 °F below
zero!
What is your Carbon Footprint? - 12:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m. - Guest
Speaker Dr. Heike Lueger is an accomplished environmental scientist
having worked with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the
National Marine Aquarium in the United Kingdom, the Bermuda Institute
for Marine Sciences, and many other groundbreaking organizations. Dr.
Lueger is now the Chief Environmental Scientist for Carbon Solutions
America, which provides custom-tailored solutions for greenhouse
reduction options for companies of all sizes. During these
presentations Dr. Lueger will educate our visitors on greenhouse
reduction and how to reduce carbon footprints.
Investigating alternative Energy - Saturday and Sunday ONLY at 1:30
p.m. & 3:30 p.m. - The Museum’s resident physical scientist, Hiram
Bleecker, will be giving two presentations about alternative energy and
newly available technologies that can help solve our ongoing energy and
climate crisis.
