The Fourth Wall
The Community Theatre Of Little Rock.
A.R. Gurney, author of "The Dining Room" and "Love Letters," sets "The
Fourth Wall" in a modern suburban home, where a housewife has turned
all the furniture in the living room to face a blank wall, the 'fourth
wall' in theatrical terms. Soon, everyone that enters the room feels as
if they're in some stage production and begin to act as such, including
bursting into Cole Porter tunes. As her husband and best friend
struggle to understand, an 'expert' - a college theater teacher - is
called in to make sense of it all. Gurney's satiric look at the state
of theatre is also a look at the state of the world, as 'life imitates
art' gets a hilarious full-circle workout.
