With his genes and his genius, Darrell Scott has earned the awards and praise he has received as a songwriter, session player, band member, and solo artist.. Born on a Kentucky tobacco farm, he joined his father and brothers as a teenager on the stages of roadhouses and taverns. His abilities on guitar and banjo honed and road-tested, he sharpened his lyrical skills studying poetry and literature at Tufts University.. His muse led him to Nashville and his talent brought him into the studios and writing rooms of Music City.. His songs have been recorded by such artists as Garth Brooks, Faith Hill and Dixie Chicks.. Grammy nominations came for "Best Country Song" and "Best Country Instrumental Performance.".
